Garnet Brooks collection, 1901-1985.

Notebook (1901-1955), written by Brooks and his friend David Ross Shepherd, containing reminiscences and photographs relating to the Hughes Ranch, located on the Washita River in southwest Oklahoma, which provided a hideout for many outlaws who worked on the ranch in return for the sanctuary received there; deeds, chiefly for land in Comanche County, Okla.; correspondence, fee schedules, applications for registration, clippings, listing of brands used in Oklahoma and Texas, information on Comanche County owners, and other materials concerning cattle brands and marks; and correspondence and other materials concerning the Windmill Research Library, 442 pieces of windmill material purchased by Garnet at auction, which were subsequently made available to the Museum of the Great Plains for copying.
